Superstar hopeful Jon Moses has landed the part of Prince Valiant in a Christmas production of Sleeping Beauty.
Strictly Come Dancing's Brendan Cole to the rescue! Brendan stopped a pick pocket ruining a girl's day, when he stepped in on the action on the underground.
Apparently, Strictly, Dancing on Ice, I'm A Celebrity and everything else is fighting over our Olympic stars. Strictly appears to be the favourite to get most of them, with Rebecca Adlington, Victoria Pendleton and Beth Tweddle all hinting at the BBC show, according to the national media. Even Bradley Wiggins has been linked, together with Lizzie Armistead and Ben Ainslie. Other rumours include Dannii Minogue, Chris Evans, Nicky Byrne and Fern Britton (again!), Charlie Brooks and Sid Owen, Michael Vaughan and BGT winner, Ashleigh Butler, minus Pudsey. And Noel Gallagher was apparently too busy or he'd have loved to do it. It's unclear what tone that was said in. And, there's also Amy Williams, our winter Olympian, Sian Williams and the legend that is Ronnie O'Sullivan. Can you imagine having a total sport line up? How many hours of training would that lot tot up as they all try to beat each other?
Those tipped for Dancing on Ice include Tara Palmer-Tompkinson, Glenn Hoddle, Jodie Marsh, Matt Lapinskas - and Jedward, who will appear "separately". I'm trying to get my head around how they'd skate together - without a professional each? *facepalm*
According to Telly Mix, Darcy Bussell has been given a crash course in ballroom dancing so she doesn't put two left feet in it during the next series of Strictly - which is reportedly not returning to the Mecca of ballroom dancing, Blackpool Tower this year due to the "mammoth logistical exercise." The new series is set to begin in mid September.
Telly rival, the X-Factor, will be with us at 8pm on Saturday, August 18th, with Nicole Scherzinger replacing Kelly Rowland. Gary, Tulisa and Louis all returning.
Claudia Winkleman has confirmed she won't be doing It Takes Two but will be back for the Results Show.

Salsa dancers win Barclays Live in Croydon
London may be famed for its thriving street dance scene, but salsa duo dancers Marosh and Kristina have emerged victorious after picking up over 40,000 online votes in the nationwide dance competition.
Ten local acts took to the stage at Barclays Live Croydon on 16 April outside the Whitgift Centre where a large crowd packed the street to see the hottest dance acts in town battle it out for the chance to win £1,000. Five finalists were then selected by the judges, which included Strictly Come Dancing’s Brendan Cole, to go through to an online vote at http://www.barclayslive.co.uk/.
Croydon champions Marosh and Kristina have been dancing together for nearly seven years and are aiming to become UK Salsa Champions. The duo will use the prize money to invest in costumes for themselves and the students they teach.

Barclays Live in Croydon Results
London sought to establish itself as the UK’s dance capital once more as ten up-and-coming local acts battled it out for the Barclays Live title and brought Croydon to a standstill recently.
Competing for a place in the final and a £1,000 prize, dancers went head to head in front of a massive Croydon crowd and an expert dance panel that included Strictly Come Dancing’s Brendan Cole and streetdancer Jordan Breakspear.
Breakspear shot to dance fame as one half of streetdance duo, Steadiflux, who were crowned the first Barclays Live UK Dance Champions last year having received over 100,000 votes. Breakspear got the audience on their feet by showing off clips of last year’s winning performance and setting a high standard for the rest of the day’s dance action. They were followed by fellow warm act the Glee Club who entertained the crowd with hits from the popular TV series.
As the contest got underway, the judges quickly discovered that they had their work cut out as acts ranging from street dance to roller disco won the support of a jubilant crowd. Following tense deliberations the judges decided to send Theo, Marosh and Kristina, Myself, Steph and Anthony and Evan Norman through to the final.
Brendan Cole took to the stage himself and gave a dance masterclass (see above) as the crowd followed his every move. One of his fans even seized the opportunity to jump up onto the stage to dance alongside him.

Shortlist Announced For Best UK Dance Act 2010
Five acts have been shortlisted for an online public vote as they bid to become the first ever Barclays Live UK Champions. Vying for bragging rights and a bumper £1,000 prize are Birmingham duo Steadiflux, Bristol group The Freestylers, Reading Kathak star Anuradha, Manchester students Precise Crew and London troupe DEM LOT. Barclays Live is capping off an incredible year and kicking off 2011 with a bang by announcing an online vote for the Barclays Live Best UK Dance Act 2010 following a nationwide dance competition that took place over the past year.
The competition was rolled out in various regions across the UK with celebrity judges including Strictly Come Dancing’s Brendan Cole and Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara. The finalists overcame extraordinary competition with the likes of UK HipHop Champions Smash Broz, London Dance Crew champs Definitives and UDO All Star CHUCK all pipped to the post in their respective regional competitions.
Videos of the five shortlisted acts are now live on the Barclays Live website http://www.barclayslive.com/ where a public vote will decide the winner. Voting will run from Wednesday, December 22nd to Wednesday, January 5th and all votes are free of charge.

He is one of only a handful of professional dancers to compete in all eight series of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing as well as judging four series of Dancing WithThe Stars in his native New Zealand. Earlier this year, Brendan enjoyed great success and critical acclaim during his first nationwide solo tour, Live and Unjudged.

Strictly It Takes Two: Twelve Sugars Later
Tonight ... Brendelle, Dr. Peter, Tess. But first, top scoring boys, Matt (Crumbs, what a dancer) and Gavin (Tan-fastic) are in boot camp with partners Aliona (More hero than Vilani) and Katya (The Kat's whiskers) there's a lot of bum slaps, but you can't blame Katya and Aliona for taking advantage, can you ;) Matt has an amazing foxtrot frame; Gav's a bit tangled in the salsa armography.
Dr. Peter Lovatt - is he related to Chris Evans? Dancing and psychology = Dance Psychology Lab. Fascinating. Says Jamela have a fantastic dance relationship, compatible - salsa looks amazing; Paulla have a nurturing relationship, constantly reassuring; Goldina looking much better; Artara, intense and matching each other; Scattalie, synchronised, acting the character.
Behind the scenes with the men behind the scenery, Patrick and Mark. That's a lot of plans, implemented by 35 men in just 4 days! #awesome!
Tess (Ready to Tess-tify) on the sofa - what will we call her new area? Tess' Turret? Mount Tess? Loving that they can see the audience, feels more vibrant. Real camaraderie, big personalities, can't keep them quiet. Matt surprised her, Jimi is loving it, look at that cha cha face! Clauds and Tess are going out to play on Sunday; Clauds reckons she's dressing as a man!
Michelle (Independent woman) and Brendan (Filling Beyonce's shoes) do not wish to hear the criticism again, thanks. All becomes clear as to why she's so out there - 12 sugars in her coffee *Yikes* Brendan has weaned her off!

Barclays Live - Live in London!
The competition to find the best new up and coming dance act round the country moved to Leicester Square in London today, so I hopped aboard Southeastern's finest and joined the crowd to enjoy 10 acts fighting it out to make the judges top 5.
First up were Bromley's Breeze Street Crew (I think that was their name, apologies if that's not quite right!) who I thought pretty tight and full of energy - and a nice tribute to judge Brendan Cole, with a spot of salsa! And boom - knicker flashing to end, very cheeky - no pun intended! Judge Manny, Kiss 1oo DJ said it was a good job with nice choreography; Lionel Johnson, the dancing Barclays staff member said well done, an amazing performance; Brendan loved the changes within the routine and advise making it cleaner and crisper if they get through.
Soloist Saban next, promising a 'journey into music and sound' - he has quite a unique style, very fluid and used the best bit of music - Rick James 'Give it to Me Baby', which he acted as well as danced! Manny like the expressions while popping and locking, good energy; Lionel said he had great body control, comfortable - make it a little tighter; Brendan enjoyed the engagement with the audience.
Another soloist, George Phipps is slick and tight but needs to inject some personality into it, to engage with us they way Saban did. Manny said the popping and locking was more creative than the floor work; Lionel said it was amazing at the beginning, creative and good use of the stage but needs to engage more; Brendan said there's some real talent there but he needs to sell it.
Fusion Dance Group next and from an acrobatic beginning they launch into a fantastic, energetic spectacular, taking more than a hint from Diversity. The sheer numbers (22) mean it isn't as tight as it should be but they're great performers, full of personality. Manny loved the music choices; Lionel said they kept the whole crowd entertained; Brendan said it was marvellous (but not in the style of Anton!) everyone was smiling and to get 22 of them together like that was incredible.
Definitives were the first of what I'd call a real, urban street crew and didn't disappoint. The slightly older age range meant we got a bit more sass and sexier moves. Great interpretation of the music, co-ordination fantastic, powerful, slick and tight, loved the inter-action between them. My faves so far. Manny said it was a good job, very tight, top choreography; Lionel was captivated all the way through, individually very good, kept the energy; Brendan said it had a little something for everyone, slick, tight, energetic.
Calthorpe All-Stars were a dance/cheer/acrobatic group - and had everyone's hearts in their mouths as they launched a couple of girls upwards, since the stage roof was not that high! It didn't make for relaxing viewing, and although the dancing had personality and energy, they needed to be more together and smoother. Manny enjoyed the energy and that they were enjoying it; Lionel loved their smiles and the good use of stage; Brendan has never been so nervous, enjoyed the many different things going on but individually they need to keep involved.
Dem Lot have plenty of attitude and are potentially a very tight crew. Nice rhythmic choreography, but being a small group of youngsters, lost a little energy towards the end. They got Manny's attention with their name and he advised to work on tightness; Lionel said the good crowd engagement kept him watching; Brendan called them an exciting little group with good content and music changes.
Next up, Gravesend's Remix - Dutch Open Champs and BGT semi-finalists! They really had the whole package - I'm not biased because they're (fairly) local! Personality, energy, well choreographed, good music choices, very together. Manny was wowed, everything good; Lionel said great choreography, expression, memorable; Brendan said they're what this competition is all about, thoroughly rocked it.
Soloist Krisha brought us something different as she danced Bollywood to the now classic Jai Ho, a fab choice for her, very stylised, very smooth and clearly loving every moment. Well done! Manny wasn't expecting it and loved all of it; Lionel said her confidence showed in a really good performance; Brendan said it was beautiful to see something different, did fantastically.
Last up, the explosive Retaliation, great co-ordinaton, even when split in two sections doing their own thing - and they did that backwards slo-mo thing I like! Full on all the way and the seguing (not sure that's a word, but whatever) into Madonna's Like A Virgin, sending it up in a good way, was genius. I have to single out green jacket girl - in a stage full of experts, she really stood out with personality, attitude and charisma as well as technique. May have nicked my vote. Manny impressed they could go from Sierra to Madonna, good energy; Lionel said great timing and formations, creative choreography; Brendan said they mixed it up, very entertaining, went to another level after the start.
The judges retired to deliberate and their top 5 turned out to be: Definitives; Retaliation; Remix - my top three - with Dem Lot and Fusion also there. With so many streetdance crews, I thought they might be tempted to put Krisha in there to mix it up and I slightly preferred Breeze Street to Dem Lot and Fusion, but overall, there's no disagreement from me! However, I have to say the stars of the day were the Barclays Guards Precision Marching Band! Never have I seen a bunch of grown men having such a blast - all the qualities you want in performers were there, engagement with their audience, inter-action with each other, great music choices, creative choreoraphy, they had rhythm - there were even moments of slickness, particularly in their Vogue segment! Whoever put them together, I salute you! And how they got James Nesbit and Piers Morgan (in the middle there!) to agree to it, I'll never know ;-)
The lovely Brendan held a salsa masterclass for us - apologies to the girl behind me whose foot I stood on! He also assured me his head is fine, following his encounter with Edam cheese on Shooting Stars, there's no lasting damage! Strictly Come Dancing should be with us around the beginning of October and he was intrigued to learn some of the rumoured contestants! The pros, of course, don't find out their partners till three or four weeks before!
And the pro street crew, Funkstylerz, showed off their incredible moves, no doubt giving the 10 acts plenty of inspiration.
A thoroughly enjoyable day, if you have the chance to go along to the remaining rounds, you won't be disappointed.

We were also entertained throughout the day by a fantastic tribute band, Kins of Leon. If you weren't into dancing, you could have mooched around quite happily just listening. They have a Facebook page if you want to look them up!
And the pro street crew, Funkstylerz, showed off their incredible moves, no doubt giving the 10 acts plenty of inspiration.

Barclays Live!
Winner of the Birmingham show were Steadiflux, made up of Nathan Marsh (19) and Jordan Breakspear (18), both students in Birmingham.
Performing judge Brendan Cole was full of praise for them, saying: "Congratulations to Steadiflux for winning the Barclays Live Birmingham heat. They are a very innovative dance duo and worthy winners – I wish them all the best for the future."
The London show is on July 31st, with the Barclays Live website accepting uploads of auditions, so don't miss out!
And congratultions also to Brendan, who recently married girlfriend Zoe Hobbs, with Anton Du Beke, Erin Boag, Bruce Forsyth, Karen Hardy and Jo Wood in attendance.

Barclays Live searches for UK’s hottest dance acts!
Barclays Live is marking the launch of a host of new Barclays new state-of-the-art branches by unveiling a new competition to find the UK’s hottest dance acts.The competition is open to anyone who thinks they’ve got what it takes to become Britain’s next dancing superstar, be it as an individual, duo, group or troupe.
To enter visit http://www.barclayslive.co.uk/ or send us a link to a YouTube video showing us your moves or email us directly at info@barclayslive.co.uk along with your dance clip, name, phone number and postcode.
The top ten entries will be put through to the live auditions, which will take place at respective regions. These contestants will perform in front of a celebrity panel of judges that includes Strictly Come Dancing’s Brendan Cole. He will also be giving a dance master class at each venue!
The top five acts will then be subject to a public vote to decide the winner via the Barclays Live website http://www.barclayslive.co.uk/
The winning act from each region will be waltzing away with a pair of VIP tickets to see Brendan Cole in action as well as dancing all the way to the bank with a cool £1,000!
Brendan says “The Barclays Live competition is a great opportunity for talented dancers in the UK and I am really looking forward to experiencing some fabulous performances. If you haven’t entered the competition already, make it the very next thing you do!
Brendan, 33, is a champion ballroom dancer, specialising in Latin American dancing. He is one of only a handful of professional dancers to compete in all seven series of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing as well as judging four series of Dancing With The Stars in his native New Zealand. Earlier this year, Brendan enjoyed great success and critical acclaim during his first nationwide solo tour, Live and Unjudged.

News in Brief: Streetdance, SCD, GTD
There's a trailer for Streetdance, the movie featuring Diversity, George Sampson and Flawless - I didn't have any sound for it, hopefully you will. But I'm very much looking forward to seeing this next year!
Ricky Whittle is heading for Hollywood and would love to star in a remake of Dirty Dancing - I'm thinking, you can't improve perfection, so maybe a re-write updating it to include a bigger variety of dance styles would be better.
Brendan Cole answers a few questions regarding his own tour - and revealing that Strictly is one of the worst things he's ever done. But he'll keep going back!
Dancenergy have made it through to the top 60 acts in Got To Dance - how much we see of them I've no idea. Davina defends the decision to put through a ten-year old autistic boy, James Hobley. The thing is, if his talent warrants a place, wouldn't it have been discriminatory of them not to put him through? The decision NOT to take part would have rested with his parents, surely? The show kicks off with a preview at 6pm on Saturday night - same time and day as the BBC's So You Think You Can Dance - then continues on Sunday at 6pm with a two hour double bill.

News in Brief: SCD, SYTYCD,
Louise Redknapp (the thinking man's WAG) has apparently been signed as a judge on the UK So You Think You Can Dance. The former Eternal band member will certainly balance out what could have been a frightening panel -Arlene Phillips and Nigel Lythgoe, neither of whom hold back - although I don't expect her to be sickly sweet, I can imagine she'll deliver constructive criticism without destroying a contestant's confidence. Good signing! And you never know, she might bring Jamie along sometime! What???
Gordon Campbell from the SCD Band is appearing in Portsmouth with the Royal Marines Big Band tonight! Bit short notice I know - some track record though, so if you can get along, then do!

Strictly Come Dancing, News in Brief

Ali mentioned that she would draw upon her experiences in The Bill to find her aggressive side for the Paso Doble as she was used to catching criminals, throwing them over the bonnets of cars and cuffing them as part of her role!
Ian commented that you have to be a Rolls Royce in the Foxtrot. Jade says that she is more like a Golf GTI than a Rolls Royce but would love to be one!
Natalie Cassidy was born to jive! She absolutely loves training, so much so that she says, "I don’t want to go home!"
Zoe has said that for the last year she has been a mother and so fears she will struggle with the mood of the Samba. Some of the moves make her feel like she is at a wedding rather than a disco!
