Ubisoft's Just Dance 2: Still Number One!

And we finally got our Wii fixed, so I was able to put on my dancing shoes (well, take my slippers off, actually) shove the coffee table to one side and almost manage to not trip over the rug, as littlun showed me how to switch it on.

I'll be honest with you now - I'm not a techy person, I don't play game consoles, in fact, the last one I did play was Crash Team Racing (as Coco Bandicoot I was the undisputed queen of Crash Cove in this house) but that was ages ago and I've only ever had a couple of games of bowling on the wii. So I'm not going to tell you how brilliant the graphics are or how it does this or that because I simply don't know. There were words flashing up that occassionally told me "Good" or even "Perfect" and there were some Gold stars too. More importantly, the music was brilliant.

What I do know, is that once I put Just Dance 2 on (passing on It's Raining Men, far too energetic) and got into Tik Tok (c.2500 points) thinking, I'll just do a couple and call it a night but, oh - I Feel Good, I'll just do that (c.3000 points) I found myself - Move Your Feet, that's a good'un - ooh, 6167 - unable to switch it off because Proud Mary beckoned (6996 points) but there's no way I'll beat that. Whoop - Hot Stuff, 8039, get in there! You see what happened?

Addicted, especially when I Want You Back scored me 8675 points! Now I know that regular games users and Just Dance afficionados are probably going "pfffft" at my pathetic little efforts but I was thrilled to be improving - at the same time as laughing involuntarily and doing a damn sight more exercise than I've had in ages! I dropped back to 3933 with Sway, then a Hey Ya netted me 7128. That's my lot, I thought, I must go - but hang on, there's a Charleston, I've got to try that (6833) and I can't possibly turn it off without a bit of Jungle Boogie (3383) but really, that's my lot - oh, ok, just Soul Bossa Nova (3585), because Mattiona did a brill jive to that on Strictly. One more and that's it - The Power, 5217 *collapses in a heap* and I resisted the temptation to go back to the music menu. Littlun showed me how to switch off and I am now completely hooked and itching to get back on it! The Number One chart spot is well deserved! As is the BAFTA!

Ubisoft® Unveils Just Dance® 2

Today Ubisoft announced the full tracklist of its anticipated game Just Dance 2. After the success of the first installment, which has sold more than 4 million units to date, Just Dance returns with a brand new track-list of more than 40 popular songs, each track featuring its own choreography.

Just Dance 2’s track list offers a wide range of songs drawn from classic hits and legendary songs to today’s chart-toppers, including Donna Summer’s Hot Stuff, I Got You by James Brown but also Rihanna’s SOS, When I Grow Up by the Pussycat Dolls and many other famous songs for perfect dancing parties! It also explores new music styles such as Bollywood music or reggaeton. And for those who still want more, they will be able to download tracks from an expanding catalogue of new hits.

Added to the “Classic” mode in which you can just dance on the tracks and hit the score, Just Dance 2 also boasts new modes. Thus, players will now be able to create their own team and engage in dance-off contests with up to 8 players. In the Duet Mode, each player will follow a different choreography mixing dance steps and poses that will respond to the choreography of the other. An added benefit is the new Just Sweat mode where players will lose calories shaking their bodies to their favorite songs.

Just Dance 2 will be released exclusively on WiiTM on October 14th, 2010 in EMEA territories and October 15th, 2010 in North America.

After the tremendous worldwide success of the first installment, which has sold more than three million units to date, Just Dance returns with a brand new track-list of more than 40 popular songs, improved movement detection and hot new features to challenge friends and family. Just Dance 2 is immediate fun, eliminating inhibitions and bringing all generations together through the universal passion for dancing.

Just Dance 2 will feature tracks from classic hits and legendary songs to today’s chart-toppers. Players will enjoy dancing to a wide selection of musical genres, including Pop, Country, R&B, Disco, Funk, Rock etc. Each track features its own choreography and dance enthusiasts will be moving for hours on end. From Rihanna’s SOS to Donna Summer’s Hot Stuff, from I Got You (I Feel Good) by James Brown to When I Grow Up by the Pussycat Dolls, Just Dance players will come across songs and routines that will make them want to move their feet. And if they still want more, they will be able to download tracks from an expanding catalogue of new hits.

Just Dance 2 also boasts new environments, new modes and more importantly new moves … It takes the experience one step further with enhanced multiplayer options and new hilarious game modes. Players will now be able to create their own team and engage in dance-off contests with up to 8 players. In the Duet Mode, each player will follow a different choreography mixing dance steps and poses that will respond to the choreography of the other. And before engaging in dance battles and co-op challenges, players will take advantage of solo play to improve their performance. An added benefit is the new Just Sweat mode where players will keep their eyes on the Sweat Meter as their calorie counter shows them how much work they’ve put in.

The Classic Mode remains the core entry point to Just Dance 2 featuring fun and simple menus and giving access to all songs from the start – this is the perfect mode for an immediate dive into a non-stop dance-a-thon. And for those who are too shy to dance but love to sing, all tracks are accompanied by on-screen song lyrics. So even if they don’t score points with their voice, they’re sure to score some with the crowd… well, maybe.

Sky Not Missing a Trick!

Arlene Phillips and Davina McCall are both said to be involved with Sky's new dance show Just Dance, which will begin auditions in January, with live finals taking place in February.
