Snippets: Strictly Come Dancing; Dancing on Ice; Olivier Awards; Revolution;

In conversation with Strictly Come Dancing's Katya Virshilas: I was lucky enough to interview the wonderful Katya for my hyperlocal website, Rochester People, prior to her show at Chatham's Central Theatre with the lovely Pasha Kovalev. I believe there may be tickets still available and if you're in the South East, the theatre is literally 2 minutes round the corner from the station, and there's plenty of parking within a couple of minutes walk too, so check it out!

Britain's Got Talent unearthed another SuBo and another Olly Murrs - wouldn't it be great if they could just be known as who they are: Jonathan (& Charlotte) and Sam Kelly, with a lovely, simple "delicate and honest" Alesha called it - performance.

A dance show featuring some of the UKs best dance talent begins a limited run from May 6th to June 10th. Revolution will be fronted by Got To Dance judges Kimberley Wyatt and Andy Garcia and take place at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket.

And a new Strictly Come Dancing show is touring, featuring former winners Kara and Artem, with Robin and Kristina. Dave Arch and his band, including the singers will also be showcased. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10am, see here for venues.

Dancing on Ice: The Final!

As usual, scores are for guidance - this one's up to us! A vocal Bolero performance first, from opera singers Noah Stewart and Laura Wright - it's available to download too.

What was destined to be my favourite dance of the night didn't disappoint, as Mattina and in particular Matt, showcased everything he'd learned with a supreme interpretation of Singin' in the Rain. With Daniel, Vicky and Andrei helping out in a big ensemble piece and Nina the spitting image of Debbie Reynolds, it was perfectly pitched, with Matt a modern Gene Kelly. They were always going to get me with this! Score: 10/10/10 = 30 High fives all around! Chris called it incredible, goosebumps, just smiling all through; Robin said he's been waiting weeks to push the 1 and 0 together and that Gene Kelly was his idol and Matt was the leading man, going solo, using props, perfect partnership; Katarina called it totally perfect, it captured the feel of the music and the character, quality of skills, lift, performance, charming and playful - outstanding; Louie said it was absolutely superb and surpassed what he'd seen on feet! Unbelievable musicality.

Jorgatt to Fame, with Brianne, Mark, Sylvain and Maria to help with lots of spectacular tricks but not so much to show off her skating skills. Why do they give the little bubbly one the disco number each time (Chelsee?) They never quite capture the audience like an old style proper dance. Score: 10/9.5/9.5 = 29 Louie said she was hot and burnt the floor, it was fabulous, with speed precision and personality; Robin and Katarina both agreed re the lack of solo skating but she highlighted her energy and performance, playing to her strengths.

Chiceyne with Chico as The Fonz and Happy Days on ice! Sean, Lukazs, Frankie and Alexandra pitch in and all was going swimmingly until the big lift didn't come off, good recovery though I bet Jodeyne's bum hurts! Full of fun and great skating. Score: 8.5/8.5/9 = 26 Chris praised the recovery; Robin said it worked overall, the first half was fantastic and he didn't lose momentum after the fall; Katarina said it always breaks their hearts when something like that happens and was glad he came back right away. Louie called him the ultimate performer.

Back with each of their favourite routines and Mattina choose Don't Stop Me Now, tired arms in the big lift, he just held it, plenty of passion and energy everywhere else. Score: 9.5/9.5/9.5 = 28.5 beating the previous mark of 26. Jayne called it mature and controlled; there's no stopping him now.

Jorgatt to Fallin', which just has to be tens - completely beautiful, could see nothing wrong there at all, gorgeous intricate choreography and an amazing drape lift/spin to end. Chris has a lump in his throat, Jayne has goosebumps. Score: 10/10/10 = 30

Chiceyne to Sexy And I Know It, great fun and great control. Score 10/10/10 = 30 - thoroughly deserved, said Jayne.

The cut off point - our votes decide who'll get to perform Bolero. The Leaderboard shows Jorgatt on 59, Mattina 58.5 and Chiceyne 56 out of 60. Louie praises all three for their for their true dedication and skill to get here, all phenomenal, all deserving winners; Katarina called the standard incredible and that anyone seeing them for the first time would think they've been doing it for ten years; Robin said he asked for a lot and one performance had it all - Singing in the Rain.

The class of 2012 turn up - Mariandy, who left far too soon, Charlene with that lovely Ina Bauer. The Moment of Truth #1 - Mattina and Jorgatt make it through! Much love to Chiceyne, you'll see them on tour.

The Bolero Skate off - Mattina: goosebump city, full of passion, gorgeous skating, attack, intensity and fluidity. Karen's face said it all. Chris called it sublime, Matt puts his heart and soul into everything; Robin told him he laid everything out in front of us, he had to fight for the big lift again and he did, it was the most difficult Bolero we've ever seen, a privilege to watch; Katarina called it mesmerising, there was always something going on, gentle, sexy, intense and asked, what kind of a world class skater would he have become if he'd started as a little boy! Louie said it was superb, it became an extension of him and he invited us in.

Er, follow that then Jorgatt! They had a good go but it was more set moves than fluid movement and not as pretty as Fallin' - so it's Matt getting my vote (again, he got it earlier too!) Jayne said Jorgie looked like a ballerina; Katarina praised the beauty, elegance, posture, passion and performance and said she should be proud; Louie said she'd outdone herself with a slow, lyrical, dramatic routine; Robin said we got to see her beautifully.

The Moment of Truth #2 Come on come on come on come on come on ... it's .... oh, highlights first *hums* and Dancing on Ice Champion 2012 is: MATTINA! Well, wow, what a series!

Dancing on Ice: Semi Final

And it's straight through to the final for whoever tops the leaderboard! You'd think Matthew or Jorgie but Chico has been getting closer and closer and Jennifer we know has masses of support so may top with the public: this semi final is way too close to call!

Torvill and Dean bring us a wonderfully creative routine to Feeling Good; who knew playing pictures onto the ice would add such an amazing dimension (underwater dimension in this case!) Brilliant!

Onto business and Chiceyne lead off to The Flood - emotional, strong, it all built beautifully, making complicated tricks and lifts look so easy; his best yet. Score: 9.5/9.5/9.5 = 28.5 they've certainly put the pressure on the others with that!  Robin called it a fantastic way to start the show, Chico was brilliant, protective and controlled and delivered one of the best routines we've ever seen; Katarina enjoyed the complete control of Jodeyne and was amazed by the lifts and tricks; Louie called it fabulous and outstanding and loved the emotion.

Dannifer with I Wanna Dance With Somebody is a lovely performance as always, she really gets choreography, such a shame that little stumble cost her. Score: 8/8/8 = 24 Katarina said we always enjoy her performance, praising the chemistry and different lifts but would have liked more skating; Louie said the performance and dance came together with confidence and the stumble was bad luck; Robin told her she doesn't have an ugly bone in her body and we love watching her.

Jorgatt to Shake it Out and they're brilliant together, that was so full of tricks we've never seen before, a balletic contemporary piece on ice, truly beautiful. Score: 9.5/9/9 = 27.5 Louie told her she utilizes every piece of the music and that she was So Back! Katarina has been mesmerised by her since the beginning and said she was 'on it'! Robin said she blossomed and made it happen, it was terrific.

Mattina to The Way You Make Me Feel is another groovy affair, courtesy of the master of amateur ice dancing Matthew, although I found it a little less fluid due to the catch-me-if-you-can choreography. Fantastic spin and the Headbanger, close to disaster but got there. Does mean the scores put him behind Chico though! 9/9/9.5 = 27.5 Katarina said it would've been a 10 but for the mistake, and called it solid, seamless, almost perfect; Robin loved the feeling but told him to watch the details; Louie was convinced he was on stage not ice, fabulous. (Funnily enough, the stumble came at the moment "You knock me off my feet"!)

Onto the Ultimate Skills then and Chico is back with us - very well presented, everything there. He was petrified but you wouldn't have known it! Scores: 9/9/9 = 27, a total of 55.5 out of 60! Still in control of the board! Jennifer next and you know, she's one of those people you just can't help smile at or cry with. Everything was going well, but just a little loss of balance on the spin sadly. No, you haven't let yourself down, Jen, you've been an amazing contestant all the way through. Scores: 7.5/8/8 = 23.5 a total of 47.5/60. Jorgie with another spot on set of skills - interesting to see the difference between the hockey lunges, Jorgie's so-pretty ballet arms as opposed to Jennifer's strong elegance and the gentility of Chico's. Scores; 9/9/9 = 27 making 54.5 out of 60 - Chico still safe until Matthew stopped skating what was really something else - controlled and smooth, a full routine rather than a string of set moves place together - there's performing under pressure and he nails it every time! Scores of 9.5/9.5/9.5 = 28.5 give him 56 overall and he sprints past Chico into the final by half a point!

Leaderboard stands thus: Mattina 56 - safely through; Chiceyne 55.5; Jorgatt 54.5 and Dannifer 47.5.  Onto the results and joining Mattina are ... Chiceyne!! It's Jorgatt versus Dannifer. On paper, it's Jorgatt who have this but ... lovely speech from Jennifer "we won't give up" but she's a bit teary - still gives a joyous performance, giving it everything. Well done Jen! Jorgatt are so together and the headbanger from standing start to standing finish, much better. It's unanimous for Jorgatt, expected.

But Dannifer's actual performances overall must be some of the strongest ever, the emotion and characterisation poured into everyone of them was amazing, along with the dancing factor. We'll miss you Jen!

Final next week - can all three finalists possibly top anything we've already seen? Surely there's going to be a fair few tens flying around?

Dancing on Ice: Clowns to the left of us; magicians to the right!

It's Props night! With a circus theme in the ring of ice!

Semmy to Magic, 6 props - cane; flowers;rope;magic hanky;secret hanky and bunting! Phew - fantastic, outstandingly her best, brilliant skating, fluid all through considering the fiddly props, my absolute favourite of theirs, fun and personality, stunning! Score: 8.5/9/8.5 = 26 Robin called it powerful, strong and fluid, it ticked all the boxes; Katarina really enjoyed it, all the skating moves were there; Louie called it fun and fabulous, props suited, naturally funny.

Chiceyne to - I missed the song, I'm guessing it's called Stronger - great timing with the bar bells, great skating, very strong, didn't like the song much though. Score: 9/9/9 = 27 Louie said the props were part of the performance, a complete whole; Katarina told him he shines every week, the lift was brilliant; Robin called it a great job, very much in control.

Jorgatt to Video Games is beautiful and lyrical and the ribbon behaved, she kept it moving all the way, pretty lifts. Score: 6.5/5.5/8 = 20???????????? Ah, Robin said his should have been 8.5 but Louie? Had he seen Robin's and gone with it? He said no, he found it quite boring, he was waiting for something to happen with the ribbon and it was emotionless; Katarina said it was all there, a good job but not so much  difficult content as the others; Robin said it's tough to compare, it was beautiful but didn't have the technical content we're used to from Jorgie. Chris, Jayne and Karen all vehemently disagree - the ribbon was the hardest of all the props.

Mattina to Real Wild Child with him Ringmaster to Nina's lioness. Excellent as always, not as fluid due to the nature of the props - whip and hoop, massive lift, character swagger. Score: 9.5/9.5/9 = 28 Katarina said it had fun, entertainment, everything, the whip work looked natural *coughs/blushes* Robin praised the complete package, skating skills and lift, calling it terrific and really strong; Louie said it was fabulous, he owned every one of the props and it had light and shade.

Dannifer to You've Got A Friend in Me is delightful, pure theatre, a lovely charming programme, so in character, a perfect clown partnership. Score: 8/8/8.5 = 24.5 Katarina was smiling the whole time, it was adorable, charming and timing was incredible; Louie praised the inventiveness with the props, it made him smile; Robin said they drew us in with the way they are together, a very honest performance.

Leader board: Mattina 28; Chiceyne 27; Semmy 26; Dannifer 24.5; Jorgatt 23 - bit of shocker there! I'm sure she'll be safe. So who's going to lose out? Following Marcus Collins with T&D and the pro skaters, the first couple safe is: Dannifer! Mattina; Jorgatt! It's Chiceyne versus Semmy, the only ones with previous skate offs, so not a huge surprise. Chemmy pulls off another great performance and Chico does everything he possibly could. It's a split decision and it goes Chico's way, as Louie and Robin save him. But Semmy go out on their best performance and one that I may well add to my faves!

Next week - the Ultimate Skills Test is back; they all have to do it! And, just to ratch it up, top of the leader board will make it straight through to the final! Ooooh, they really don't want to choose between Jorgatt and Mattina do they?! Till then x

Dancing on Ice: Boys versus Girls

Yes, I know, it's been nearly a week but I had things to do, people to see, networks to net with and mountains to climb, as usual ! So the review had to wait but I'm here now and seeing Captains Matthew and Jorgie picking their teams, with the winning team doubling their individual points - this should nicely ensure the panel aren't having to choose between Jorgie and Matt come skate off time!

Isn't Christine a tad worried that Philip will step on that dress - and send that split right up where it really oughtn't to go?

Jorgatt set the bar to Crazy in Love and a diva performance that befits Beyonce, fierce, intricate, fast and furious, a little hectic in places, great shoulder spin. Score: 9/8.5/8.5 = 26 Robin said her infectious personality drew everyone in and she attacked with abandon; Katarina praised the perfect package and the passion; Louie loved the Hair, body shake, speed, precision and that she let it rip.

Vindy and Suspicious Minds, it's the same nice fluid skating but not so much with the attack, nice lifts, not spectacular. Score: 6.5/7/7 = 20.5 Katarina said the skating was more fluid, controlled and comfortable but he's still crunching his shoulders; Louie called it clean and tidy but a little laboured; Robin liked the speed across the ice and saw the improvement from last week.

Chiceyne with Sexy and I Know It, topless - hilarious song (personally, it's my choice for a Robin Windsor cha cha, with that body, camp fun of the highest calibre!) Poor Jodeyne though, that fall looked nasty. Great butt work to start with and only he could have carried that routine off, so funny but still great skating. Jayne Torvill "Was he skating? ("I didn't notice" was left unsaid, lol) Score: 8.5/8/8.5 = 25 Louie reckons taking his clothes off got him no extra points and praised the strength, personality, great power and fluidity; Robin liked the controlled abandon, lifts and footwork; Katarina said "I always thought less is more but with you more is better!"

Semmy and Next To Me, lovely peek-a-boo start, plateau lift fully extended, smooth skating, a complicated routine very well done, the elegance and the power in equal measure now. Robin said it was absolutely brilliant, pristine crossovers, technically the best skating we've seen! Katarina called it world class, beautiful and knew she'd go for it; Louie said it was so complete, elegant, graceful stunning partnership.

Dannifer to Happy - her lines are so beautiful and she's so emotive; she lives every moment. Gorgeous routine. Score: 9/7.5/8 = 24.5 aw, bless, she's gone ... Louie said that's how you do a lyrical dance on ice, you capture with emotion, fresh and exciting, special; Robin saw she was in her moment, called it exquisite and beautiful to watch; Katarina called her body language "poetry".

Mattina and Dance With Me Tonight is so tight, so rhythmic, intricate, fab solid lifts and a pure pleasure to watch, he makes it look so easy. Score: 9.5/9.5/9.5 = 28.5 Robin said his repertoire of material is growing, the performer in him makes it so natural to watch, brilliant; Katarina said he has everything - acting, dancing, entertaining, skating; Louie said it's like watching a professional , the ease, stunning to watch.

So the leaderboard, pre Team Challenge: Mattina 28.5; Jorgatt 26; Semmy 25.5; Chiceyne 25; Dannifer 24.5; Vindy 20.5

Team Jorgie out first with Spice Up Your Life and it's a fab routine, full of life, joy, sassy and all so together. Team Matthew to YMCA, great fun, nice set pieces ie the train, the circle, the spelling of the letters but I don't think it had as much content as the girls and not so together. So it's the girls who get my vote. But since my vote counts for naff all, let's go to the judges. Katarina called it testosterone v sex appeal; girls want to have fun, boys exciting - Team Jorgie; Louie said there wasn't much in it and plumps for Team Matthew; Robin with the deciding vote and it's Team Jorgie for the cohesive, fast fun! The leaderboard now looks like this: Jorgatt 52; Semmy 51; Dannifer 49; Mattina 28.5; Chiceyne 25; Vindy 20.5.

Onto results then: Safe - Mattina; Jorgatt; Dannifer; Chiceyne which leaves Semmy versus Vindy; Andy's already saying his goodbyes. But we know anything can happen - and almost does, as Sean trips up! But he catches himself and another clean skate from Semmy see them go through to Props week. Vindy, all relaxed now, have a better skate than before. Next week (this week now) it's Props night, with a circus theme; Matthew has a whip. That's got to be worth a look in, hasn't it?

Dancing on Ice: Rocking All Over The Ice

The Rock of Ages cast do a Glee, with the pro skaters accompanying for a high energy rocking start to Don't Stop Believing.

And it's Mattina to kick us off in typically excellent fashion to Don't Stop Me Now, fantastic floor/ice work, the training footage was obviously early in the week because the small lift looked effortless, so fluid, exciting and raw. Not a Queen fan but I'll always see this when I hear it now. Score: 9/8.5/8.5 = 26 Louie never wants to stop him, as he's beautifully lyrical, edgy and speedy; Katarina told him he rocked the audience and Robin was impressed with the control and says he's really good to watch.

Semmy comes out Stronger to Kelly Clarkson, the power's back but she's kept the elegance, full of attitude and energy, her best overall performance. Score: 7.5/7/7 = 21.5 Robin called it contained solid skating; Katarina called her a rock star on ice, right on the rhythm; Louie agreed it was by far her strongest performance, with elegant arm and leg lines.

Dannifer to Total Eclipse of the Heart, major emotional connection, more attack, speedier and stronger, great lines as ever and a mega necklace spin to finish. Score: 8/7/7 = 22 Katarina saw a different Jennifer; Robin praised the blade use and Louie her wonderful extensions, emotion and fluidity. She's well made up!

Vindy to Don't Look Back in Anger and clearly now the weakest left in the competition, there doesn't appear to have been much improvement compared with the others. No attack, he's just going through the motions, sadly; I found that a bit boring. Score: 6/6.5/6.5 = 19 and his whining about the scores is really getting on my wick. Katarina missed the character but praised the strokes and lift; Robin called it clean and nice but a bit flat and Louie saw moments of heartbreak but it needed more emotion. And he's whining again. Time to go, I think.

Samandra have the frog lift again, would you look at the state of his legs? Skating to Human - he's not an actor but he emotes so well, wobbly frog lift but held it and did a tricky little routine fluidly. Score: 8/7/7 = 22 Louie called him a dancer, said he grasped the precision, mastered the emotion and that he had the best lines in the competition; Katarina liked how he smiles when he performs and the great spin and steps; Robin told him he commanded our attention, every move convincing.

Jorgatt with everybody's favourite theatrical Gothic number, Bring Me To Life and they bring the ice to life, fabulous, dramatic and that neck spin, wow. Brave Matt! Score: 8.5/9/9 = 26.5 Robin called the performance all encompassing - theatrical and emotive: Katarina said it's always a Wow, and was dark, strong, incredible tricks; Louie saw a bit of hesitancy but agreed it had everything.

Chiceyne to Monie Monie and another energetic and enthusiastic performance, making the lifts look effortless, even in that wig. Score: 8.5/8/8 = 24.5 Katarina saw everything she wanted, energy, power and a hint of wildness (don't think she was talking about the wig); Louie didn't have much to moanie moanie about, called him a born performer and Robin used controlled, solid and gusto but said he needed a little finesse.

Leaderboard: Jorgatt 26.5; Mattina 26; Chiceyne 24.5; Dannifer & Samandra 22; Semmy 21.5; Vindy 19

I think it's a question of which one is in the skate off with Vindy. Isn't it?

Safe: Mattina; Jorgatt; Dannifer; Vindy! You have got to be kidding me? I mean, I know in Strictly I'll accept the less technically gifted if they entertain, up to a certain point, but on the ice, it's different. Such a shame we're going to lose one of the others before their time. Semmy take the safety train to the corner and it's Chiceyne versus Samandra. Gutted for them.

Samandra made the frog lift much stronger - pressure off, nothing to lose, fabulous second performance. Chiceyne follow up with a better performance too and it's they who are voted through unanimously.

So we're down to six - team challenge next week!

Dancing on Ice - Ultimate Skills Week

A spin, step and a jump to master, specifically, a massive steps (plural) sequence, a proper jump or more and some serious spinning, preferably with 3 rotations! And if it isn't enough to keep them out of the skate off, there will follow a solo skate comprising all those elements again! Brutal. For some, that is, for others it's a mega showing off session. And at the end of it all, TWO will leave!

Chiceyne set the bar to Mama do the Hump and Bloody Hell was my reaction to that first big lift, very impressive, as were his steps, jumps and the only little wobble coming out of a very long spin! Score: 8/8/8 = 24 Robin called it a terrific way to start the show; Louie loves that he performs from beginning to end and Katarina called him a thoroughbred.

Semmy to Hold On and she's definitely softened, still needs to finish some lines but lovely steps, a little wobble after the spin but overall a very good performance as you'd expect from a sportswoman who understands what you need to do and applies it. It was also good to see the relationship there is between  them, she always captures the feel of the piece. Score: 7.5/7.5/7 = 22 Katarina praises the combination attempt; Louie was dancing it with her and Robin advised that elegance looked good on her, her tricks were lovely and footwork tidy.

Dannifer to Candy Man with great characterization as always, great steps, energy and those flyaways were lovely. And well done for getting back out there. Score: 7.5/6.5/6 = 20 Chris "don't turn her upside down, it'll all come gushing out again." Robin called her a great performer, safe but beautifully executed; Katarina called her courageous and like the overall performance and Louie called her solid.

Vindy skate to Land of a Thousand Dances, good spin, shame he mucked up the steps, the lift looked hard work and hello? Cameraman? Where'd he go? Score: 7.5/6.5/5.5 = 19.5 I thought a bit generous actually, considering the steps sequence. Robin loved the performance and that he recovered the steps, collectively he compensated; Louie wrote down Mr Rhythm, Mr Performance, Mr Personality and told him he pops! Katarina said he was sneaking in the skating skills but had some knots in his legs.

Sebianne to Omen with strong, raw power, slight mishap in the hydraplane thingy but so fast, bit frantic. Score: 8/7.5/6.5 = 22 Bless, he's not happy but it was his best performance when it counted. Louie tells him to get over being a perfectionist and concentrate on the performance; Katarina liked the fast, well executed steps.

Jorgatt to Louder and I swear she hit her head during that headbanger - not that I was watching, I was trying to uncurl my toes - what a performance, all the elements packed in tight with style. Score: 8.5/8.5/8.5 = 25.5 Robin said she delivers but some footwork was incorrect! Louie called it downright dirty and dangerous; Katarina is amazed by her fearlessness and was blown away, calling her almost unbeatable and unstop ...stop... stopable, eventually.

Samandra skate to Lightning and why do they give them that stupid, dangerous frog lift? Oh, they've taken it out. Well, good! Lovely presentation and nice skating, elements well done, but you can see the injury on his mind. Score: 7/6.5/5.5 = 19 Chris said they're all jubilant he made it through because in the morning, Alexandra didn't think she had a partner, although Karen's face at Katarina's "concentrating hard, holding back in performance" comments was a picture; Louie praised the clean performance and lovely turn; Robin called it neat and tidy and gave credit for the focus.

Andi to Push the Button and she's so lovely but just so hesitant and slow, it's such a shame. Nice spin though, a little jump, very careful steps sequence - and a spectacular lift! Score: 7/5.5/5 = 17.5 Louie praised her vast improvement and that she took control; Katarina said she was a great dancer but her feet didn't move enough and Robin told her she did a lot more than they were expecting. Bless, she's a bit crushed cos she had to commit a lot to that.

Mattini last out to Without You - I've been expecting this song since I first heard it, thought it would be terrific to skate to and I'm glad it went to Mattina, with a cracking routine, intense yet still so musical, the whirly bird, nailed and huge OMG lift, big spin, stunning, so in tune with each other and the music. Fantastic. Score: 9/9.5/9.5 = 28 It's the best they've ever skated it; Jayne looks like a proud mummy. Katarina is acting out being not worthy, while thanking them and praising the really excellent, almost perfect steps and the mood; Louie says he got his spark back, and used stunning and fabulous, while Robin said every move he made, he made it notice, it was pristine!

So the leaderboard stands thus: Mattina 28; Jorgatt 25.5; Chiceyne 24; Semmy&Sebianne 22; Dannifer 20; Vindy 19.5; Samandra 19; Andi 17.5. Now seeing that and knowing what follows, the judges may decide they need to be a little more circumspect when dishing out the scores - had Vindy been one place down, Semmy or Sebianne may have made it safely through. As it is ...

The final decision rested with Robin after the public votes saved, in no particular order - Mattina; Vindy; Jorgatt; Dannifer; Chiceyne and Samandra. Which meant Semmy v Sebianne v Andi and clearly Heidi was earmarked to go. But after an "I pity anyone who is in a skate off with me" off the cuff remark to camera by Sebastien, it all went horribly, horribly wrong for him.

Chemmy came out and delivered the 23 elements very well with one little hiccup and got a "fluid and constant" from Katarina a "Speed and rhythm" from Louie and a "contained your composure" from Robin to make it a tough choice. I still thought, if I'm honest, that Sebastien would come out powerful and irresistible and yet, somehow, he lost his way and suddenly I was thinking, Oh, my God, he's stopped! He completely lost it, how disappointing. Katarina was in tears, she's been a fan all through. Robin advise they (the contestants) couldn't have improvised, they only had those skills and Louie told him he'd been incredible but that's the nature of competition. Heidi remembered all the steps and did all the elements, although slowly and carefully and it wasn't going to be enough to save her. Louie said there wasn't so much speed and drama, neither were there any obvious mistakes; Robin was glad she put everything into it and Katarina advised she skated up to her potential. Chemmy was saved, which I'm really glad about - but how sad to lose Sebastien, he rocked! There's a couple of others I'd have preferred to lose before either of them. And they've set me off now ... Chris said he didn't think they'd be doing this again - and said it was all Jayne's fault, it was her idea! I think he was kidding. It's been emotional, till next time x

Snippets: The Voice; Nigel Lythgoe; Dancing on Ice; Strictly Come Dancing.

West End star, Kerry Ellis, didn't make it through in The Voice, which does seem incredible until you think about what they're looking for - West End vocalists are a very different breed to pop singers or recording artists.  I remember the first time I heard Joe McElderry on X-Factor - amazing vocal but I thought, he's not a pop star, he's a musical theatre star - and what's the only album so far? Classics. I'm sure Kerry will continue to wow audiences in theatre land and probably have a much longer career than anyone from The Voice will. But I'm looking forward to seeing the show more than ever now, if that's the calibre of vocal they can afford to let go!

A chat with Nigel Lythgoe ... and a snippet of Sebastien Foucan and exciting news from Dancing on Ice, as it seems that the four Olympic champions, Robin Cousins, Katarina  Witt and Torvill & Dean are all going to perform together on ice this series!

The planned Ubisoft video game of Strictly Come Dancing has been pulled, as BBC bosses fear it may not meet our expectations -  a new one is being planned and more details will be announced shortly.

Dancing on Ice: Love is in the Air

Yes, it's that week of the competition when the sickly smiles and ruination of classic love songs takes precedence of the skating skills ... or is it? On this occasion, no, as it happens - they've all upped their game and the bottom two will be even tougher to call!

Mattina kick us off to Buble's Everything and it's sublime and beautiful, a huge lift, nailed. Gorgeous routine, smooth, fluid and intricate and a fabulous partnership. Score: 7/7.5/7.5 = 22 Chris called it a really sophisticated routine and Matthew an ice dancer. Katarina concurs and likes how his face was alight. Louie loved the flow but would like a little more extension and Robin found the natural movement relaxed and joyful.

Semmy with I'm Into You and she was into it, really sold it and put herself into contention. Very confident, great lifts, remembered her arms, plenty of attack, fabulous aeroplane at the end! Score: 5/6.5/7 = 18.5 C'mon Louie, bit of credit there please, much improved. Jayne said it was her best all round performance and she even improvised to the music at the end. Louie wants her to find the light and shade as well as the fierce element; Robin tells her she has finessed, the power is controlled and and the quality good; Katarina likened her to a Greek Goddess and said the elements were very well done.

Vindy to Let's Get It On or, how to turn Marvin Gaye into the cheesiest number ever! Good fun, nicely skated, loved the tongue in cheek nature, made me smile. Score: 5.5/5.5/6.5 = 17.5 Chris said he's getting better and better, his edges are silent; Robin said he has great quality but needs to find power; Katarina enjoyed the lovely performance and Louie said he always gives a good, funny performance but he needs to see more now.

Andi to Wherever You Will Go with a beautiful beginning. huge shakiness into the big lift but she get there and there with confidence. Lovely skating, the trip at the end a real shame, recovered well. Score: 5/4.5/4.5 = 14 It was sugar she said! Jayne told her she skated out well and congratulated her on the lift; Louie commended the wonderful skating and beautiful arms in the lift; Robin said the exit of the lift was glorious and not to be despondent but Katarina is still missing the chemistry, cannot read her eyes.

A Torvill&Dean aerial special 'Dancing on Air' to With or Without You by Scala and the Kolacny brothers. Stunning.

Dannifer to Fever and looking red hot, it's her best yet, amazing choreography, delivered brilliantly, two lots of fabulous splits - she's cut her head with that big back kick though, nasty. Score: 7.5/5.5/6 = 19 her best yet and sadly she's not there to see it, busy having her head glued. Robin praised the flexibility that caused the injury and the fantastic performance but she does need more skating.

Chiceyne to L.O.V.E  with a very impressive, extraordinary long solo beginning, nailed the ballet lift, partnering, chemistry - it's all there, wonderful stuff, full of personality.  Score: 8.5/7/7.5 = 23 Jayne was more impressed by the skating than the lift; Louie called it performance of the night, a pleasure to watch; Katarina loved the starting sequence, the romance, the seamless fast and subtle lift and the partner engagement; Robin simply said it was spot on.

Romark to I'll Stand By You, lovely smooth skating as usual, the operative phrase there being 'as usual' a bit more attack but still just nice. Score: 5/5/5.5 = 15.5 Chris said she achieved the speed and the steps; Robin said it was the right direction but the speed and steps manipulated by Mark and they're running the risk of every routine looking the same.  Louie said it was her most complete performance but wants more pizazz and Katarina wants her to open up and show her love of skating.

Samandra skate to Just The Way You Are and he's so elegant and attentive, beautiful strong skating, lovely partnering, much improved on last week. Score: 6/6.5/7 = 19.5 He's one happy bunny, even Phil gets a cuddle. Jayne called it amazing and solid; Katarina loved the charming story, reliable and trustful partnering. Louie called him the cat with the cream and praised his beautiful arms and lines. Robin praised the smooth crossovers and said Alexandra is perfectly happy in his arms and he should enjoy it!

Jorgatt to Falling, dramatic start and drama all the way, hitting fantastic shapes and emotion. Score: 9/8.5/8.5 = 26 highest to date! Chris called it amazing, Louie called it believable and he was breathless; Katarina called it awesome and involving; Robin called it breathtaking and beautiful.

Sebianne to My Cherie Amour makes me smile, he's cheeky and romantic, the Russian Splits not perfect but he went for it - love that he diagramizes all his moves. No, I don't know if that's actually a word but it says what I mean. Jayne points out the difficulty; Robin praised the attempt and the quality of skating; Katarina loved the new romantic Seb and Louie called it lovely, beautiful, gentle, soft, magical to watch.

Straight to results - typing this as I was during the very entertaining BAFTAs - and it was Romark versus Semmy, sadly - and it's Romark who lose out. See all the news and gossip on the ITV website.

Dancing on Ice ... Pops!

One Direction *screams* (not really) accompany T&D with the Pro dancers; the couples join in, amazing how speedy and confident they all look when not on their own and being scored!

Dannifer out first this week, to Vogue and Jennifer's totally got the look and the feel, great timing, more speed, lovely solo arabesque/spiral, confident, lost a little attack halfway but fantastic style. Score: 6/5.5/5.5 = 17 Chris said it's one of her best with great vogueing. Louie called it lovely with good strong lines but would like her to attack more; Robin said the detail was brilliant but she needs to maintain the focus and Katarina loved the crisp, sharp beginning but said it was still a little basic.

Samandra with possibly the worst costumes ever, to Wake Me Up Before You Go Go and the cheesiness has turned me off. Timid in the lift naturally, following the falls, not his best performance, there's something about the song, it's so over used, I'm immune to any dance to it I think. Which is a shame, I didn't see the usual Mark, he was far too quiet. Score: 5/5.5/6 = 16.5 Jayne said he had more fun after the lift; I concur. Katarina called him a surprise egg, you never know what you'll get, she liked the energy and speed and the pairs skating; Louie said it wasn't as strong as last week; Robin pointed out the great basic skating skills, the entertainment factor and said it went to another level after the lift.

Mattene to Poker Face with some nice touches but not so smooth and Matt still doing the work, impressive splits lift. Score: 5/4/4.5 = 13.5 I think she's headed for the skate off again, sadly. Her fastest yet and she kept up, says Chris. Robin praised her attitude and the fantastic split lift but there's nothing new technically; Katarina a little disappointed, was expecting more although Louie enjoyed the greater dance content, that it was faster and the nicer lines; careful how you present that flexibility (he's up doing a Bruno, so to speak).

Sebianne to Fire with Fire which I've never heard but I think is Scissor Sisters - it doesn't matter because ... he is so damn exciting! Fast, rhythmic, landed those unusual jumps, he just goes for it! 7.5/7/7 = 21.5 and Happy Birthday Brianne! Jayne "we told him to jump; he asked 'how high?'" Louie said: Hello, personality! And said he was on fire, loved the speed and beautiful arm lines, and that Seb was hungry for it; Katarina is in love with his spirit, energy and strength and called him fearless; Robin says his is a visible journey, noticeable at home.

Andi to Price Tag, good attitude, more splits, just held the solo and very nicely done, elegantly groovy. Score: 6/5/5.5 = 16.5 her highest score yet, Chris says we can see her confidence growing. Robin enjoyed the lifts and lovely partnership and says they're going in the right direction; Louie praised a great job and wonderful connection and the well executed simplicity with good rhythm; Katarina needs more spark in the performance.

Vindy and 500 Miles with a great solo start, full character, energy, nailed the worrying roll up lift, seem to end a little suddenly, liked they'd missed something though?! Score: 5/6/6.5 = 17.5 Jayne said he thoroughly deserved his score, most improved in the competition; Katarina praised the chemistry, great skating and entertainment; Robin called him engaging and fun to watch; Louie says he has good rhythm and makes him smile.

Semmy to The Locomotion, impressive solo skating and tricky footwork, nailed the big lift *phew* if a little untidy in places but gutsy as ever. Score: 5/7.5/7 = 20 Chris says she came back like an express train; Robin said the details are seamless, loved the power and speed; Katarina loved the energy and how much skating in the programme, she loves how she performs; Louie agreed re the power and speed but would like more finesse and elegance.

Mattina to The Look of Love, he's so musical and funky, really knows how to sell it, excellent feet! Score: 8.5/8/6.5 = 23 Jayne says he's still up there, even with the pressure, even carrying injury. Louie praised his consistency, fluidity, pace and performance and called him a pleasure to watch; Katarina felt it was nervy and was disappointed as her expectations are high; Robin agreed with both but said he's still doing more technically than anyone else.

Chiceyne to Don't Stop Moving is Fab-u-lous! Excellent control and timing, mostly, quick around the ice, steady partnering, personality and groovy dancing. Score: 7.5/7/7 = 21.5 Chris says he's more and more fluid, coming together so well; Katarina says he's solid and connected and she loves what she sees; Robin noticed he got a little ahead and advised him to keep a little bit back; Louie loved the opening, hips and fluidity.

Romark to Perfect, attempting the upside down sick lift! They put it at the end and didn't spin so much, another nice performance, mostly smooth, elegant but I'm not seeing anything new really. Score: 4.5 /5.5/7 = 17 Jayne praised the fluid and quiet skating; Louie says its charming and beautiful but similar to last week, borderline boring; Katarina said it works for her, charming and elegant, connection, beautiful pairs skating; Robin called it lovely, sweet, elegant and faster, and said the basic skating quality is excellent.

Jorgatt and the iconic Britney, Hit Me Baby, complete with school uniform. I think she's fantastic but I found this quite disjointed, there was so much packed into it I thought she struggled to keep up and therefore couldn't finish everything off like she normally does. Score: 8.5/8/7.5 = 24 Top score, so what do I know? Chris said she has all the tricks and brings it to life; Robin said she encapsulated the role but found it a little choppy and not in control (maybe I do know?) Not her best but solid; Katarina praised the delivery of the concentrated content; Louie liked the speed, elegance, grace, transitions and partnership.

To the leaderboard: Jorgatt 24; Mattina 23; Sebianne 21.5; Chiceyne 21.5; Semmy 20; Vindy 17.5; Dannifer 17; Romark 17; Samandra 16.5; Andi 16.5; Mattene 13.5.

And onwards to results: Safe - Andi; Jorgatt; Vindy; Sebianne - we reach that point where the nervous smiles turn to worried frowns and hand wringing - Mattina - Dannifer - Chiceyne - Semmy - Romark.

It's Samandra versus Mattene - Sam needs to nail that lift. Or will they let Charlene go - three weeks in the skate off? She seems to have lost heart a little; I do like those two handed jumps of Samandra and he had more energy and his basic skating is so much stronger. Dancing on Ice: Face Off!

Or, The Duel, as they're calling it! Immunity up for grabs, the judges will save 6 and there are NO scores tonight - it will be public vote only that pits two against each other in the skate off!

Looks like Heidi might be going for a headbanger tonight - only, they've dispensed with the crash hat and used her hair instead!

It's Samandra versus Chiceyne up first, to Under Pressure, and yes, all they needed was a couple of moustaches! Great interpretation and partnering by both; Sam's timing better but Chico the most advanced tricks, although Sam's death spiral is impressive. Excellent movement across the ice by both, and big personalities too - anyone's guess! Louie tells Sam he's showing elegance and grace, with nice lines and good speed; he tells Chico he came out a little stronger and it's 1-0 to Chiceyne. Robin calls Sam tidy, strong and neat; Chico he calls controlled, contained and speedy - it's 2-0 and immunity to Chico. Katarina advises Sam she enjoys him and he's smoother and says both were great. She says Chico has a natural presence and she makes it unanimous.

Sebianne versus Dannifer to I Just Can't Get Enough - Black Eyed Peas, not Depeche Mode ... you don't remember them? Oh. Moves on quickly. Jennifer's timing is fantastic, so rhythmic, emotionally she's got it, and plenty of attack; Sebastien's spins are awesome! And jumps, a little less finesse but again with the attack - wow, they were both on it tonight! Jayne calls Jennifer graceful and balletic; Seb, urban and athletic. Robin says Jen is glamorous and elegant; Seb is fun, free and exciting - spintastic! He votes Sebianne. Katarina commends Jen's beautiful ballerina lines and loves Seb's raw free spirit and the entire corkscrew spin. She also votes Sebianne - they're immune. Louie says Seb found his personality and makes a 123 for Sebianne.

Cookey versus Semmy and this one should be a no-brainer. They're skating to Opposite's Attract and Corey is completely lacking in fluidity where dancing on the ice is concerned. And the arguments with Brooke do not bode well ... Semmy perform a lovely reclining showgirl lift, there's attack and personality and the slower tune gives her time to finesse - it's surely got be safe Semmy? Two broken fingers?! She's superwoman! They all agree it's Corey's best performance and that Chemmy's back, commending the pairs spin (Katarina) beautiful straight leg (Louie) and her sassiness (Robin) - unanimous decision again.

Torvill and Dean's new routine to Christina Perry and Jar of Hearts is haunting and ethereal (helped by a wonderfully lit set) intricate and serene, emotional and heartbreaking.

Next up, Andi versus Mattene to Islands in the Stream, with lovely spirals from Charlene and a smooth opening combination; the genuine connection now forged between Heidi and Andrei is fully realised, a stunning lift, so elegant  - interesting who'll take this, I preferred Andi. Jayne says Charlene is a natural performer and Heidi has grown in confidence.Robin says it's difficult and that Heidi really pushed herself but they love Charlene - he chooses Andi; Louie praises the good performances by both but says Charlene was a little safe whereas Heidi - those split lifts win his vote. Andi immune. Katarina impressed by Charlene spirals but Heidi looks more comfortable and she gets the vote.

The Big Fight: Mattina versus Jorgatt and the buzz of them being on the ice together has completely drowned out the song, I have no idea what it was - simply didn't hear it! Matthew was perfectly in time with it though, down on the ice, back up again - seamless, so smooth, nailed the big drape lift, rhythm and timing fantastic. Jorgie so feisty, excellent lifts, full of attitude - on balance though, I think it's a tougher job for Matthew, especially with the back problem. Chris says you can't separate them and asks the judges to put them both through! Louie calls them both phenomenal, the way Jorgie moves; the support Matt gives Nina - he votes Mattina. Katarina calls them both incredible, Matt so complex; Jorgie, magical, cute, sexy, cool - Jorgatt get her vote - the first split decision of the evening, it's all down to Robin! Who says that Matt acts, skates and lifts like a skater; He loved Jorgie's new rough and ready, hot and sassy image - but it's Mattina he votes for!

Romark versus Vindy to Baby, It's Cold Outside. Andy a little more nervous than usual but still solid skating and partnering; Rosemary almost made it through without any stumbles, just a teensy tiny one right at the last. It must have been a teensy tiny one because no-one seemed to see it except me ... but still very elegant, lovely skating. Did I hear right? Andy trumped on the ice and broke it? Isn't that slang for farting? And it broke the ice? Oh, well, it normally does in the kitchen at parties ... Katarina said Vindy worked well as a couple with beautiful ballroom dancing, while Romark told a story and had their strongest skate - she votes Romark; Louie gives Romark a round of applause but said Andy challenged himself - he saves Vindy; Another split decision! Great skating from Andy, according to Robin, although tense and nervous; elegant by Rosemary - he saves Romark!

So immune from the skate off tonight: Chiceyne; Sebianne; Semmy; Andi; Mattina and Romark.

At risk: Samandra; Dannifer; Cookey; Mattene; Jorgatt and Vindy. On form, the judges will probably have them in this order: Jorgatt; Dannifer Samandra; Mattene; Vindy; Cookey so we have an intelligent stab at who'll be saved over whom - as long as no-one stumbles ...

The drama will unfold at 9.30pm! And here we go - recap first; we see Philip slumming it with the audience. Robin was pleased they all came out competitive but concentrated on their own performance; Katarina's most difficult decision was Andy v Rosemary; Louie says the ones at risk who stood out for him were Jorgatt, Dannifer and Samandra.

Safe - Jorgatt - Samandra - Jennifer's in a right old state - but no need, Dannifer are called next, I'm happy, I'm with Louie is respect of those three; Final safe place - oh, come on Philip - Vindy, thank you.

So it's Bye Bye Cookey - but the formalities first - Mattene's going to kick some ice. Of course Brooke's happy - she's up for parole and knows she got a great case. Charlene performs that lovely Ina Bauer move, with added lassooing - very nervy though, I hope they forgive her for the moment at the end.

Katrina - Mattene; Robin - Cookey!!!!!!!! Eh!! Eh!! Robin, Robin, Robin, please, cut them a little slack! Louie - Mattene, thank goodness! *shakes head in amazement* He may have improved but it was still painful to watch! Phew, till next week - catch updates from T&D on the website!

Dancing on Ice Twist!

The promised twist alluded to by Philip has been announced - a series of head to head performances will take place on Sunday, with the judges choosing which of each pairing will be safe from elimination!

The producers have matched the contestants with their nearest competitors from Movie Week's leaderboard - which means Jorgatt versus Mattina! I don't envy the judges on that one!

At the bottom end, it's Cookey versus Semmy, which, if they play to Chemmy's strengths this week, should see her through without much trouble. Elsewhere though, it's closer than close, with Romark versus Vindy, Dannifer against Sebianne and Andi taking on Mattene. Toughie.

Dancing on Ice: Movie Week

It was all so Hollywood until Matthew opened his mouth ...mind those steps in that dress, Christine *phew* she made it! Guess the movie - Vindy with Grease; Jorgatt Legally Blonde; Chiceyne Top Gun; Markie Blues Brothers; Andi Goldfinger; Mattene Gentlemen Prefer Blondes; Mattina Saturday Night Fever?

Chiceyne are indeed Top Gun, not the song you'd expect but You've Lost That Loving Feeling and he's cool, fluid, smoooooth, very nice, strong partnering, confident, great movement over the ice. Score: 6.5/5.5/6 = 18. Chris says he wanted to turn him into a traditional pairs skater and he did; Kristina commended the really big crossovers, speed and control and  Louie asked, Tom Cruise who? He certainly got that loving feeling, was pleased he captured the mood and interpreted the character well. Robin says he commands the ice with confidence but not arrogance.

Romark with the Beaches song, Wind Beneath My Wings - she'll get piles, sat on the ice too long, lovely lift off to begin though, elegant until the stumble out of the lift and ooh, badly into that one, some nice lines but not an awful lot going on to be honest - and she seemed petrified all through, a little bit stiff. Score: 3/3.5/4 = 10.5 Jayne says she did everything asked of her; Robin wants her to understand her talent and allow herself to skate and praised her perfect lines and glide. She breaks Katarina's heart to see her joy turn to fear and Louie could see the stress in her body and wants her to let rip!

Samandra with Kung Fu Fighting - loved the concept, the attack, the execution and attiude and especially his reaction to landing the big flip at the end! Great skating again, with personality.  4.5/5/6.5 = 16 Chris calls him his guilty pleasure this week; Katarina respected the backward step sequence and the flawless performance but said he reminded her more of a cuddly panda than a kung fu one! Robin liked his confidence on the skates but could see it in his eyes he was focused on the flip; Louie said his arms were a bit sloppy (and aimed it at everyone) and that Sam hasn't improved on last week.

Semmy skating to Rescue Me from Sister Act - that costume's awful. Another energetic start, tiny stumble - think they went a bit wrong and sadly, the big lift that was proving difficult beat them on the night. Having to stop after starting and remove a big costume can't help the concentration and I've said it before - bearing in mind especially it's only their second week - if they're struggling that much, simplify. This is what happened to Sinitta, lovely skater, a bad lift cost her her place. Score: 3/3/4.5 = 10.5 Jayne's going to make her try it again in a few weeks, if she gets through. Louie commends her for trying, tells her not to lose spirit; Kristina begs her not to do them, be the hurricane on the ice and Robin says she doesn't need the trickery, she can skate. Philip lets on that it went perfectly in rehearsal.

Cookey to Stand By Me and I did not like that start, he's not as good a mover as he thinks, timing's well off, it was a disjointed performance, Brooke may as well not have been there. Meh. Score: 2.5/2.5/3 = 8 Philip's Strand is more exciting. Chris says Corey turned a corner with his mental attitude this week but Robin is disappointed, Louie's points were for the facial performance and Katarina tells him to skate with less eggshells under his feet and he'll need the audience to stand by him.

Dannifer to Listen from Dream Girls - she's still in pain, you can see, almost in tears, so fantastic that she managed such gorgeous lifts, mega kudos on that performance. Score: 6.5/5/6.5 = 18 Jayne concurs with fantastic while Chris trots out No Pain No Gain. Louie loved the drama and emotion and her beautiful arched back; Robin tells her to allow the same confidence in the side by sides as she does in the lifts; Katarina said the pained expression worked well in the programme and she was drawn into the story.

Markie have the obligatory matching trousers suits for the Blues Brothers Everybody Needs Somebody. He's much improved, more confident, steadier on the ice, great timing and personality, the routine totally suited him. He can watch with pride this week! Score: 3.4/3/4 = 10.5 Chris says he has the desire to be better; Katarina praises the clever choreography and the performance skill but says he needs to cover the ice; Robin praises the huge improvement, says he's going in the right direction and it was fun to watch. Louie likes the connection and the improvement, called it a bit ploddy but he enjoyed it.

Jorgatt skate to Nine To Five and it's another wow performance, so fast and tricky, brilliantly acted, she really dances her way across the ice, lots of lifts and tricks. Score: 7.5/6.5/7.5 = 21.5 Jayne says she proved how talented she is, Louie called it fun, fast and fabulous, jam packed with choreography, so complete and asks where are they gonna go with her? Katarina thanks her for being a shining jewel; Robin says she absolutely on the button and praises her fantastic versatility.

Mattina follow that with Night Fever and it is excellent, completely Fever on Ice, musical, fluid, rhythmic, wonderful movement, another to capture the feel totally. Score: 6/8/7.5 = 21.5 Chris says he delivered; Robin wasn't expecting to give an 8, acted, danced, most importantly, if you cut the top of the picture, the bladework would'nt tell  you who was the pro! Katarina calls him natural, strong effortless, relaxed and sexy. Louie says it was well executed but missing the spark.

Mattene skate to Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend and she's in full Marilyn Mode with a little bit of quickstep and a couple of nice lifts. Score: 5/4/6 = 15 Jayne said she made a great Marilyn; Katarina liked that she stayed in character and called it charming and pure enjoyment with nice lines in the lifts; Louie praised the fabulous characterisation and Robin says she's lovely over the ice and looked fabulous.

Sebianne to Mad World from Donnie Darko and I'm loving the sway start and the butterfly, haunting and atmospheric routine, a lovely arabesque, smooth across the ice. Score: 5/6.5/6.5 = 18 Chris he's a gentle spirit and they're together now; Louie thought he lacked emotion but called the arabesque beautiful; Robin said his lines are great, there's nothing contrived, the quirkyness of his style worked. Katarina didn't get to speak as Philip let Seb challenge Louie!

Vindy to Grease Is The Word and there's great skating again but I didn't feel the performance was a convincing as it could be - think the wig got in the way! Low key compared to last week - dare I say it, the title track was probably the least played? Score: 4.5/4.5/5 = 14 Jayne called it a great job, she's shocked how good his basic skating is; Katarina says he keeps surprising her with his constant skating but he needs rhythm. Robin said he entertained for the right reasons. Louie called it clean and tidy with good pace.

Andi skate to a jazzed up Goldfinger which added some attitude, lovely extension into the back roll up and reclining spy (check me out,Tony Gubba's daughter!) I really enjoyed that, much stronger with more energy. Score: 5/5/5.5 = 15.5 Chris says she's getting better all the time, specially now the partnership is gelling. Louie said it was softer and more confident, she eased across the ice; Robin liked the attack and Katarina praised the spectacular ending and steadier skating but asked her to spice it up more. There was an explosion of double entendre and innuendo, starting with Heidi saying it's hard to be sexy when Andrei's telling you to get on your knees ...

I fear for Semmy, and if pushed I'd have to say I hope it's Romark v Cookey in the skate off. Back at 9.30pm! Major recap, half of 'em in physio or having a cry somewhere before Philip's off ... Safe: Cookey!!!! Sebianne; Chiceyne; Mattina; Jorgatt; Samandra; Andi; Romark! *Shock Alert* Semmy *Phew* Dannifer; Vindy. It's Markie v Mattene and I think Charlene's basic skating skills will see her through (although I do like her, I do like Mark too and there was more improvement to come) I confess myself surprised that Corey is more popular than him. I'm officially out of touch this year! Bless, Mark made a mistake too, the pressure got to him so not as good as earlier. So unless Charlene falls flat on her face and refuses to get up again, I think she'll go safely through. Yep, utterly delightful and better than before. It's unanimous - Mattene skate next week! Aw, bless, Mark's a bit of a sweetie. I'll just have to make do with Copy Cats.

Dancing on Ice - Second Wave

Pixie Lott opens the show, accompanied by Mark & Maria and Matt & Nina (I think) before the remaining eight competitors go head to head - saying hello to the ice panel and Louie tries to look all stern but he can't keep it up ...

Dannifer up first - Dan hopefully recovered from the hamstring - skating to ... I didn't catch the song but it was well characterised, a charleston feel although a little slow. She has fabulous leg extensions, and great musicality. Louie praised the beautiful choreography playing to her strengths; Katarina said her dance background showed, so professional looking if a little careful and Robin enjoyed the lovely naturalness of it, although they all agreed there's a bit of shoulder tension. Score: 15.5

Samandra next and he's already looking more adept than Mark. Skating to Fascination, with tricky footwork for week one, strong partnering, confident and cheeky and maintained the balance between personality and technique, excellent skate. Jayne said he's come a long way, Robin pointed out his comfortable natural stance over the blade, Louie praised the partnering and musicality, while Katarina was impressed with the step sequences. Score: 15.5

Romark follow with Fernando and an early stumble leaves her a tad jittery but still elegant, the double stag lift was lovely and her basic skating very smooth. Chris was impressed the speed over the ice, Louie could feel her fear but said she exuded elegance and grace. Robin called the quality of footwork exquisite and Katarina called her charming and inspirational. Score: 12.5

Lula skating to My Guy and I'm loving her grit and that she's singing along! Timing and character, elegant in the lifts and a simple routine nicely done considering the pain and lack of training. Jayne confirmed the determination to be there. Robin wouldn't have know she was injured going by performance, Katarina called her courageous but would like more skating and less singing! Louie said she was dancing by numbers at the start but he enjoyed it once they got going. Score: 9.5

Sebianne to Clocks and he's strong and exciting and therefore untidy in some places but I'm liking him A. Lot! Some terrific moves in there, really showed him off. Chris said he brings the passion, Katarina tells him to keep experimenting and taking risks, Louie liked the speed and aggression and enjoyed the contemporary feel but Robin pointed out that while great, he will have to pay attention to his partner too. Score: 17.5

Chiceyne to Wild Thing and he will not be denied! So groovy, fluid and the grin didn't leave his face, excellent speed and partnering, strong and confident - I could end up being a big fan! He's 40? I'm gobsmacked. Jodeyne says when they got together it wasn't pretty and Jayne says he's so bubbly but focused. Robin called him the Wild But in Control Thing; Katarina said he has the potential to be a thoroughbred and Louie declared the ice to be melting and that he's EXCITED! Score: 18.5, straight to the top of the leader board and well deserved!

Cookey skating to Summer of '69 and he's pretty scared but gave it a good go with attitude in the performance - and he didn't fall over or drop Brooke (which looked like could happen at any time!) Chris said he was on the edge of his seat and Robin pointed out the tension but liked the intensity; Louie gave 3 points for the interpretation and Katarina said it was hard to criticise - but she was worried for Brooke and so happy they finished in one piece! Score: 11

Mattina and they saved the best till last, in terms of skating and song - Give Me Everything and he did, great musical performance, loved the dancing section, strong and exciting gymnast, dancer, skater, controlled - his pleather trousers were trending apparently! Jayne called him a fantastic contender, for the life of me I didn't catch what either Matthew or Nina said but Katarina said her score of 7 was purely for the skating and nothing to do with their sexiness or looks and she'd prefer him in jeans and a white t-shirt (add a burgundy leather box jacket and a gold belcher chain and that was my preferred man's look in 1980.) Louie said the points were for the pleather but he was only joking, he loved the exciting and almost perfect execution. Robin said it was a fantastic end to the show and he can't wait for the rest of the series, there are some terrific competitors.

You didn't really think he was dead, did you? Tut tut ...

No surprises in the skate off: Cookey versus Lula, no shocks tonight as we've all learnt our lesson! Although you'd have thought the might of Eastenders may have seen her through, it didn't and we say farewell to Laila, as the judges vote unanimously for the steadier performance of Corey. I presume it'll be all remaining thirteen  on the ice next week, so prepare for a mammoth episode!

Dancing on Ice 7 - Curtain Raiser

The Ice is Back proclaims the headline and training snapshots follow: Cheggers OUT; Chesney OUT; Sylvain OUT - but! Robin IN; Katarina IN; Louie IN, out and no doubt shaking it all about!

T&D bring us mid air suspense, Viennese Waltz, all very dramatic and theatrical as they go Ga Ga to Edge of Glory with a show stopping, imaginative opening. Is that Philip and Christine spinning down to meet us? No, they're safely on their gantry.

Are you ready? Follow me along with the live blog - unless my connection goes, obviously!

Heidi and Andrei (Andi) out first to Exra-Terrestrial and she's neat and tidy, except for the leg in the big lift, nice swing lifts, a bit on the slow, staid side but she comes across really well and kudos for managing the partner change, potential with more confidence. Robin commended her too for coping with the change and called it very strong and solid although a little clinical. Katarina said she set a  really good standard and to trust her partner - Russian men will always catch you! Louie like the musicality and fluidity but said it was safe. Score: 12.5.

Mark and Frankie (Markie) to I'm Still Standing  - aw, bless he struggled through, very hesitant ad probably the easiest choreography they could produce. But he didn't drop her and he's improved, said Jayne. Although she also said that his legs aren't moving as fast as his face! Which sums it up! Louie said he has a winning smile but remedial dad dancing, no strength or power; Robin tells him to be careful with the mugging and Katarina got a kick out of his performance. Score: 8

Charlene and Matt (Mattene) to Guilty - with some lovely solo glides called Ina Bowers? I'll look it up later, it's a lady German skater *Later* It's Ina Bauer. Very nicely played, confident and loving every minute. She'd so bubbly, belies the sorrow in her life. Katarina was totally amazed at a 150 year old being so comfortable on the ice, while Robin noticed she was having a ball and reckons she'll be a guilty pleasure. Louie said she packed a punch with nice lines. Score: 13

Jorgie and Matt (Jorgatt) to Skinny Love. She has the most gorgeous arms, very balletic and elegant, pretty lifts, a very accomplished performance. Ah, she's been to ballet school. Well, she made good use of what she learned, it was lovely. Robin called it exquisite and one of the strongest openers ever; Louie agreed, saying it was a beautiful performance with stunning finishes but would have liked her to have eye contact with Matt. Katarina said it was the first spark of magic tonight. Score: 18.5

Meeting the rest of the contestants and Laila Morse, where did you get that laugh?! That's got to be worth a vote on its own!

Chemmy and Sean (Semmy) to Raise Your Glass - indeed, after all she's been through I'm so pleased for her - confident and full of attack, good clean skating, loved the execution of the side split drop flyaway! Katarina, as a fellow athlete is impressed with the speed and energy and calls her an explosion of excitement. Robin says she had power and speed with charisma and personality; Louie said she's a powerhouse that needs finesse, but when she gets it she'll be Shimmy Shaky Chemmy, one to watch out for! Score: 16

Andy and Maria (Mariandy) dancing to Move Like Jagger! Check out that groovy rhythm and that smashing exuberant smile (just don't get so excited you lose the timing!) Full of fun and joy, potential to be super! Louie pulls him up about the timing and sloppy limbs but Katarina loved it, said he's a natural and Robin praised his partnering, looking after Maria in the lifts. Scores reflected the differences in opinion, with a 3.5 from Louie, 5 from Robin and 5.5 from Katarina. He'll be safe though, made the biggest impression. Score: 14

Andy and Vicky (Vindy) to Walk This Way and it's fab, nailed a big lift, terrific timing - I don't watch Corrie, but who knew? Needs to work on basic skating but full of personality again and thoroughly enjoyable. Robin loved it, the skills are there, let the competitive skater out. Katarina said he was a surprise and he has so much more potential and Louie said he had strong arms, was entertaining and made him smile. Score: 12

So that's it - who'll get your vote? The scoreboard shows: Jorgatt 18.5; Semmy 16; Mariandy 14; Mattene 13; Andi 12.5; Vindy 12; Markie 8. Mine are going to Semmy, Vindy and Mariandy. I think Markie will be in trouble and that Sugababes fans need to get on it, because Andi could be in trouble, it was a very quiet routine. Lines close at the start of the results show - 9.30pm, see you then.

Results - and to say I'm gobsmacked and amazed would be an understatement. I'll never be predicting anything again, that's for sure. Ok, yes, I was right about Andi - but Mariandy? I totally take responsibility and will make sure I don't put the mockers on my favourite next week! Gutted for Maria and Andy and a teensy bit surprised they weren't saved over Andi, going by their scores. Ah well, it won't be the last shock of the series. Snippets: Strictly Come Dancing on Ice!

Nicole Scherzinger's name has been dropped into the mix for the vacant judge's spot on Strictly Come Dancing.

Reports are that the Beeb want to 'get their own back' on Simon Cowell for pinching Alesha, by enticing the ex-PussyCat Doll to Strictly from the US X-Factor. Seriously, do they really think the people at the Beeb have nothing better to do?

More likely is an approach because a) Nicole is a former winner of the US version Dancing With The Stars b) rumours are that her and Lewis Hamilton split up because of the Cowell X-Factor pressure but they're still good friends yada yada yada so maybe she'd welcome an excuse to come back to Blighty c) She was a good guest judge on X-Factor: Nurturing and supportive, generous with her praise and constructive in her criticism d) she's an industry professional dancer/performer and knows what it takes. So at least a serious contender - but it should still be Karen!

In Dancing on Ice, Chesney Hawkes has had to pull out due to injuries - sprained ankle, broken bone -  and his place is being taken by Chico, previously of X-Factor 'fame' - which means Cheseyne become Chiceyne. And which also means endless cries of "It's Chico Time". *Sighs*

Dancing on Ice Line Up Revealed!

We're all set for 6.30pm on ITV1 this coming Sunday! Philip is back and will be joined by Christine Bleakely; Head Judge is still Robin Cousins, this series joined by Louie Spence and Katarina Witt, in a more skating biased panel. As it should be!

Who will you be rooting for? My sporty leanings mean I'm hoping Chemmy Alcott, our top female skier, has a good run (that's a pun, btw, if you know nothing about skiing) - she's partnered by Sean Rice, which makes them Team Semmy. After a broken neck when she was 12, suffering bone spurs for years and a broken leg in 2010, her determination and dedication are not in doubt!

BBC presenters Sam Nixon and Mark Rhodes (Copy Cats) should be fun. I don't watch Copy Cats, honestly, but my son does occasionally and it's hard not to shout at the idiotic families when they can't follow a simple tune on the toy bugle ... er, anyway. Sam is with Alexandra Schauman and therefore becomes Samandra; Mark is with Frankie Poultney, although she seems to have become a single name entity this time round; they'll be Mankie. No, maybe not. Let's go with Markie instead!

Another Blue Peter presenter doing their bit - Andy Akinwolere follows Gethin Jones and Zoe Salmon down the reality dancing route - I suspect that Helen feels it'd be a bit too easy for her! Although Andy's also following the route of quitting Blue Peter! He's with the lovely Maria Filippov - Team Andia or Mandy or Mariandy? Mariandy it is.

Soap Stars Section: Andy Whyment (Coronation Street) is paired with Hilda's daughter, Vicky, obviously. Vindy for them, I think; Laila Morse of Eastenders (not Rouass, as reported elsewhere *sniggers*) is with Lukasz and becomes Lula; Charlene Tilton (Dallas - I know, she's probably done other stuff since but I've not seen anything else) partners Matt Gonzalez to create Team Mattene; Jorgie Porter (Hollyoaks) has landed the delectable Matt Evers and therefore, Team Jorgatt will no doubt bring us the first headbanger of the series; she's totally up for it. The headbanger, that is.  Hm, now, Matthew Wolfenden of Emmerdale - they're talking about him in the same hushed tones reserved for Ray Quinn and Chris Fountain. And he's good looking. Double Hm. Could be Nina Ulanova's year then, as part of Team Mattina!

And the rest of the cast: Chesney Hawkes, yes, that one, skates with Jodeyne Higgins as Cheseyne; American actor, Corey Feldman with Brooke Castile - Cookey; The Sugababe's Heidi Range, was with Sylvian Longchambon, now with Andrei Lipanov - would've been Syldi, now Andi; Actress Jennifer Ellison - she's lost a lot of weight, did you know? She's quite sparky and with The Man himself, Daniel Whiston, Dannifer will be popular; Fitness guru Rosemary Conley is probably still pretty bendy, she's partnering Mark Hanretty and therefore, Romark could surprise. Finally, I'm very much looking forward to seeing the founder of free running, Sebastien Foucan, doing a Todd Carty, only heading off up the side of the exit with a couple of back flips and landing on the side of the rink. But I'm not sure what Brianne Delcourt will make of it. Team Sebianne could be ones to watch. Now I've said that he'll turn out to be Bambi.

Snippets: SCD, SYTYCD, DOI, Cee Lo Green

Firstly, especially for anyone in the North Kent area - Pasha Kovalev and Katya Virshilas will be appearing at the Central Theatre, Chatham, on April 1st. No, I kid you not. I've got my tickets - funnily enough I checked out their itinerary before and there was no mention - I found it by accident from my job as local news hound! In Dancing on Ice, Heidi Range's partner, Sylvain Longchambon, has sadly been injured and will miss the first few weeks. Heidi will skate with a replacement - no news on who that might be yet. The incomparably fabulous choreography team of NappyTabs are now aptly expecting a little nappy wearer, Tweeting the news over Christmas that Tabitha is pregnant! Congratulations to them both - and now I've changed the template on this blog, expect to see more Showtime vids which I'm sure will be featuring plenty of their work. And judge from the American version of The Voice, Cee Lo Green, is apparently going to have a British based reality show, about his critically acclaimed band, Goodie Mob, recording their reunion album in London where they will "soak up the local customs" - will we see them as Pearly Kings, scoffing pie and mash? Might be worth a butchers ...
